To ensure the highest standards for devices operating on the DIMO network, manufacturers must adhere to rigorous testing and quality control requirements set by the DIMO Foundation. These measures guarantee the devices' quality, performance, and security, thus protecting the integrity of the DIMO ecosystem.
The testing process includes In-Circuit Testing (ICT), finished goods testing, and inspection, encompassing various tests and quality control plans. The results of these tests are recorded on the Device Certificate for each DIMO-approved device, and the specific results for each individual serial number are included in the minting certificate when manufactured.

In-Circuit Testing (ICT)

ICT is essential for ensuring the electrical functionality and reliability of the devices. The testing process includes:
a. Electrical Testing: The devices undergo a comprehensive examination to verify their electrical properties, such as voltage, current, resistance, capacitance, and inductance.
b. Test Plans: Manufacturers must submit detailed test plans outlining the testing methodology, test equipment, and acceptance criteria to ensure the devices' functionality and reliability.
c. Test Reports: Upon completion of the testing, manufacturers must submit comprehensive test reports documenting the results, including any deviations or non-conformances, along with corrective actions taken. Mechanical Testing

Mechanical testing ensures the devices' structural integrity and durability, safeguarding them from potential damage in real-world use cases. The testing process includes:
a. Water Ingress Testing: Devices are subjected to water ingress tests, such as the IP (Ingress Protection) rating, to evaluate their resistance to water penetration under various conditions.
b. Drop Tests: These tests evaluate the devices' resilience to physical impacts, ensuring that they can withstand accidental drops or collisions without compromising their functionality.
c. Other Mechanical Tests: Manufacturers must perform additional tests, such as vibration, temperature, and humidity tests, to ensure the devices can operate reliably under various environmental conditions.

Quality Control Plans

Manufacturers must implement and submit robust quality control plans to guarantee consistent product quality throughout the manufacturing process. These plans should cover:
a. Incoming Material Inspection: Ensuring the quality of raw materials and components used in the manufacturing process.
b. In-Process Quality Control: Implementing regular inspections and monitoring at different stages of the production process to detect and rectify any deviations or non-conformances.
c. Finished Goods Inspection: Thorough examination of the final products to ensure they meet the required specifications and standards.
d. Statistical Process Control: Employing statistical techniques to analyze the production process and maintain consistent quality.
e. Corrective and Preventive Actions: Implementing procedures to address identified issues and prevent recurrence, thus ensuring continuous improvement in product quality.
All test plans, results, and quality control criteria must be submitted to the DIMO Foundation for approval.
Once the requirements are met and approved, the devices will be granted a DIMO Device Certificate. In the DIMO Hardware Device License, all test plans, criteria, quality control plans will be included in that certificate. When a device is minted, the test results (test reports), as well as quality control results will be included for each device in the Dimo Minting Certificate along with the device’s unique information (serial number, IMEI etc).
This comprehensive approach to testing and quality control ensures that all devices operating on the DIMO network are reliable, secure, and meet the high standards set by the DIMO Foundation.
